Extravagance has a name: Friedrich Liechtenstein. A multi-talented actor, singer and showmaster, this years’ pop-phenomenon Friedrich Liechtenstein fascinates both, artsy critics as well as the yellow press of Germany. His popularity results less from his theatre or television parts but more so from the viral sucess of a grocery-chains’ commercial: The song/commercial “Supergeil” gathered more than twenty million hits on Youtube!
His commercially successful third album Bad Gastein (2014) celebrates the vision of life as a bohemian with thoughtful lyrics and nostalgic esthetics. Watch today’s video “The Bath Castle” (orig. “Das Badeschloss”) to decide whether Friedrich Liechtenstein truly is a bohemian or rather imitates one quite convincingly. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

The Bath Castle
We were two day trips far from the bath castle
When through a forbidden forbidden forbidden forbidden
And jerky turn
Through a turn out from the shoulder
The whole distance we had just travelled
Lay ahead of us again
It’s raining
That doesn’t matter
The rain is good for the parks
Not so good for the wallpapers in the castle
You forgot to close the windows
You are bad
We lay down near the tree
Where the roots break through the ground
We carry our flower costumes
We are lying with our backs against each other
And everyone holds their yellow yo-yo
We are made for the future
Chorus:
Once upon a time
Memories of them
Looks like promises of cadillacs and glam
We are not on this world to be perfect
The snow is perfect, the moon
We aren’t
We are on this world, to love the wrong women
Do you understand?
You understand.
You got possibilities
Red hot possibilities
You got possibilities
Red hot possibilities
You got
It’s cold
We are alone
This world is sad, nasty and mean
Each day there are less reasons
Not to be likewise
Get on
Chorus:
Once upon a time
Memories of them
Looks like promises of cadillacs and glam
