Honig, the German word for honey, doesn’t point to the dreams of Pu the bear, it’s rather the surname of the leader of an indie pop band coming from Düsseldorf. In 2006, after hobby musician Stefan Honig had quit his job as kindergarten educator, he founded his band Honig, with which he published recently, eight years later, his third studio album. The video for the single “Lemon Law” is made in one shot. In this way, the camera turns around its axis, showing the band members and actors singing about their demand for a lemon law.
The critics for the album called ‘It’s Not A Hummingbird, It’s Your Father’s Ghost’ which appeared in august 2014 were largely positive. However, people who don’t see any correlation with these winter days might ask at least for a lemon law for Christmas. So, we would get a clue what is exactly meant by it.
“Lemon Law”
We need a lemon law
You have the right to beg
And nothing’s ever set in stone
My first impression was
That you were going to stay
With all of them watching
Oh no don’t tell me what you want
Oh no don’t let me down
I got to figure it out on my own
Who walks the protocol
What’s the decent thing to do
Whatever they have I want it too
And all those demon souls
Those innocent young boys
The good news is that it hurts less when you’re growing old
Oh no don’t tell me what you want
Oh no don’t let me down
I got to figure it out on my own
I got to figure it out on my own
I got to figure it out on my own
And I pretend I’m tired
I’ll excuse myself – “Good night”
I meet you in the dark
I meet you by the waterfall
My damsel in distress
We’ll show him how its done
